Rio Tinto experts have been exploring a lithium-borate deposit near Loznica, western Serbia, for several years.

The company officials told Minister Antic that the exploration is entering the final phase, and that the results, including the mining capacity of the deposit, could be made public soon.

Antic also visited the Henderson mine near Denver, owned by Freeport-McMoRan, where he attended a demonstration of the equipment used in the metal extraction process. The company plans to employ the same method in the Cukaru Peki copper mine near Bor, eastern Serbia.

Antic and Serbia's Ambassador to the United States Djerdj Matkovic, accompanied by the management, descended down the mineshaft to the depth of 1600 meters where they could see the mining process up close.

According to the Serbian Ministry of Energy and Mining, Antic will meet with senior officials of the U.S.-based natural resource company Freeport-McMoRan in Phoenix, Arizona on Friday.

The participants of the meeting will discuss the results of copper ore exploration activities conducted in Serbia so far and the possibilities of expanding the cooperation, particularly with the factory in Bor.
