United Russia had 42 percent support in April, and 39 percent in July.

According to Newsweek, the economic situation is behind the decline, while "hundreds of thousands of Russians called for Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev’s sacking after clumsy responses to questions about the economy."

The website further said that Putin's popularity remains unaffected while other parties have not capitalized on United Russia's decline. Thus "Russia’s second largest party, the pro-Kremlin Communist Party" has ten percent support, as in July, while "the far-right LDPR ranks third in popularity, dropping one point since July, to nine percent."

According to the same poll, only 20 percent of respondents said they were certain they would vote, compared to 47 percent in February.

14 parties will take part in the elections, "with few getting above one percent of the vote share" and therefore "when taking the large share of undecided and abstaining voters out of the equation, United Russia does clock up a 50 percent share of the vote in the poll, dropping 15 points since January," said Newsweek.
