The authorities in Kiev have in the meantime denied that their military was involved in the incident.Vice President of the Committee on the Budget of the Russian Federation Council and representative of the Rostov region Yevgeny Bushmin said he agreed that "precision weapons" would be able to stop attacks from the Ukrainian side.
Voice of Russia said that suburb of the Russian town of Donetsk in the Rostov region was on Sunday morning targeted by the Ukrainian army and militia fighting for control of the border crossing Izvaryno.
A Russian man died in the shelling, while another explosion injured a mother and her daughter in a nearby home.
The Russian Foreign Ministry on Sunday summoned the Ukrainian charge d'affaires in Moscow and filed a strong protest against the shelling of the Russian territory from the Ukrainian side of the border.
