ROME Pope Francis has sent a letter to Russian President Vladimir Putin calling on the G20 leaders "to avoid a military solution" of the crisis in Syria. In a letter to addressed to Putin as chairman of the G20, the head of the Roman Catholic Church recalled the economic and social of inequality in the world and condemned "the unnecessary massacre" in the Middle East, warning of the dangers of any military attack in order to solve the crisis, Father Federico Lombardi told the Italian media.
