Hamas is opposed to the new negotiations and has vowed to carry out more violence. And in Gaza and Ramallah there were demonstrations as Palestinians took to the streets to show their opposition to the talks. The protests and the shootings are seen by many as a direct challenge to the authority of the Palestinian President.
