Djokovic wins 2nd U.S. Open, 10th Grand Slam title

Novak Djokovic beat Swiss Roger Federer 6-4, 5-7, 6-4, 6-4 early on Monday Central European Time to win his second U.S. Open and 10th Gram Slam title.

Djokovic wins 2nd U.S. Open, 10th Grand Slam title

Other names on the list of double-digit winners are Roger Federer with 17 titles, Pete Sampras and Rafael Nadal with 14 each, Roy Emerson with 12, Rod Laver and Bjorn Borg with 11 each, and Bill Tilden with 10 titles.

It was the 10th Grand Slam trophy, second in New York after the 3-1 victory over Nadal in 2011, and 55th career trophy for the Serb.

Djokovic has also become only the second man to win three majors in a single season in two separate years, after Federer, who has done it three times.

He played in all four Grand Slam finals in 2015, won the Australian Open, Wimbledon and the U.S. Open, and was defeated by Stanislas Wawrinka at Roland Garros.

Djokovic added the trophies form the Indian Wells, Miami, Monte Carlo and Rome Masters to the three majors for a total seven titles so far this season.

Djokovic and Federer have played each other 42 times to date, both winning 21 times.
