CACAK, GORNJI MILANOVAC Three persons were injured on Saturday in a wildfire that is raging on Mt. Suvobor in central Serbia. The fire threatens to spread to four villages near the central towns of Cacak and Gornji Milanovac. There are about 300 households in the threatened areas and the police and fire and rescue units started evacuating citizens on Saturday afternoon. The Serbian government will hold an emergency session due to numerous fires on Saturday night. Serbian police (MUP) Emergency Situations Sector Chief Predrag Maric has said that the villages of Srezojevci, Gornja Gorevnica, Miokovci and Milicevci are in danger. Gornji Milanovac Mayor Milisav Mirkovic told Beta news agency that the situation was extremely critical and that the fire was spreading. He called on the local residents to help extinguish the fire. Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic told B92 that the emergency government session would be held on Saturday night and added that the government has requested one more plane from Russia. He stressed that the situation was very difficult and that the Serbian Army (VS) members had been deployed to the crisis area. “We will try to help the threatened people in any way we can. Gornji Milanovac Mayor Milisav Mirković told Beta news agency that the situation was extremely critical and that the fire was spreading.

He called on the local residents to help extinguish the fire.

Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandar Vučić told B92 that the emergency government session would be held on Saturday night and added that the government has requested one more plane from Russia.
