Two men injured in parachuting accident

JAGODINA Jagodina Aero Club parachutist Srbo Savic was injured when his parachute malfunctioned on Saturday. One more parachutist was injured in the accident in the central Serbian city of Jagodina. Two men injured in parachuting accident The accident happened at a memorial cup held for the 13th time in Jagodina. Savic broke his hip and he will be transferred to the Kragujevac Clinical Center, said Jagodina General Hospital Orthopedics Chief Radenko Rubezic. Savic, who is an experienced parachutist and has performed more than 1,000 jumps, missed a landing spot after his main and auxiliary parachutes became entangled. “The second injured parachutist is from Belgrade and he was born in 1980,” Rubezic told Tanjug. Doctors suspect he broke a vertebra, but Rubezic stressed that his injuries were not life-threatening. According to Jagodina Aero Club President Miladin Stevanovic, such accidents happen even to the most experienced of jumpers. “In the past 12 years, since the memorial tournament started, we only had three openings of reserve parachutes and no serious injuries and we had 4,500 jumps,” he explained.
