Efraim Zuroff of the Simon Wiesenthal Center in Jerusalem says the trial of Sandor Kepiro could start soon. Zuroff told his audience at the Novi Sad Town Hall that the biggest problem at this point was a race against time, "because the perpetrators are getting old, but their crimes are not". His publisher in Serbia is the government-owned Zavod za Uzbenike, and the book is a part of the collection entitled Historical Memories, dedicated to the victims of genocide and Holocaust in the 20th century. In the book, Zuroff describes how he tracked down 2,884 suspected Nazis or their collaborators in 22 countries. “The problem, when it comes to trying Nazi war criminals, is not only the fact that the criminals are hard to locate and evidence hard to find. Both things can usually be done, but the key problem is a lack of political will in the countries where the suspects are hiding to bring them to justice,” he said. “I cannot arrest Nazis, only governments of the countries in question can do that. If they do not want to do it, then it will not be done at all,” Zuroff pointed put. Zuroff, center, in Novi Sad on Tuesday (Beta)
