Another jaundice epidemic near Leskovac

Symptoms of hepatitis A were first seen in the oldest boy, who returned from Montenegro a week ago, where he was working. All of the infected children live in a Roma community of the village of Brijanje in very poor hygienic conditions.

Their condition is stable and they are constantly being monitored by doctors.

“The biggest reason for which the children were taken to the hospital is epidemiological, of a preventive nature, so that the infection is not spread around the community,” infectious disease expert Božidar Miljković said.

The village of Brijanje is being monitored by epidemiologists who are taking water samples from community wells.

This is the second jaundice related crisis in the Leskovac region this year.
