Prisoners launch new hunger strike

The Daily Blic said that prisoners in Zabela began their protest Monday, refusing food, asking for the Amnesty Law to be adopted.

There has been no radicalization of the protests as of yet.

Vukadinović said that prisoners from the 7th pavilion, where convicts with the longest prison sentences are detained, initiated the hunger strike.

Prisoners all around Serbia launched similar protests several times last year demanding that the Serbian parliament adopts the Amnesty bill.

In November 2006, protests in several facilities turned violent and the government at the time decided to use riot police to restore order.
