ZAGREB Croatia may withdraw its genocide lawsuit only once the issues related to the missing, the return of works of art and war crimes trials have been solved. This was announced by the Croatian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Tuesday. Croatian MFA reacts to Mrkic's statement "Therefore, if and when the topic comes up for discussion, only then will the modalities be discussed," the ministry said in a statement submitted to the Croatian agency Hina. The statement was issued after Serbian Foreign Minister Ivana Mrkic said that it was "agreed earlier" that Croatia must be the first to withdraw its genocide lawsuit. Mrkic was reacting to the Croatian media reports that this country did not intend to drop its lawsuit by saying that Croatia must be the first to do so, because it was the first to submit its complaint to the International Court of Justice. Serbia later filed its counter genocide lawsuit against Croatia. In his statement, Mrkic referred to "earlier agreements" with Croatian Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Minister Vesna Pusic.
