The Republic of Srpska (RS) is celebrating Republic Day today, with RS Pres. Rajko Kuzmanovic declaring that "no-one can call the RS into question any longer.“ Speaking at an official reception, Kuzmanovic said that the RS had come into being as “an expression of the desire, will and need of, primarily, the Serb people, but also of all the other peoples and nationalities that live here.“ RS celebrates Republic Day The president said that there “will not be and must not be“ discrimination in the RS, adding that the entity was founded on domestic and international legal norms, which was why the RS would look to preserve its constitutionally guaranteed rights within Bosnia-Hercegovina. Stating that the RS had achieved enviable social and cultural progress in the last few years, he said that no one could call the entity into question any longer. He said that considerable progress had also been made in the economic and social spheres, but that the RS had played a big role in the signing of the Stabilization and Association Agreement between Bosnia-Hercegovina and the EU, which had been the key political event in the past year. Kuzmanovic warned that there was still much to do to bring the country closer to the European family of nations, highlighting the need, above all, to hasten reforms and the implementation of the Prud political agreement. “The three constitutive peoples of this country can only move forward through the will of their citizens, and not through imposed solutions from outside,“ underlined the RS president. To mark Republic Day, Kuzmanovic conferred medals to various individuals and groups, including RS Prime Minister Milorad Dodik and Bosnian Presidency member Nebojsa Radmanovic. Among those attending the event, alongside senior RS and Serb officials in the Bosnian institutions, were Prince Aleksandar Karadjordjevic and his wife Katarina, members of the diplomatic corps, and religious and NGO representatives. The RS parliament released a statement saying that the planned visit by a delegation from the Serbian parliament had been canceled owing to the inclement weather conditions.
