Montenegrin coast suffers damage from fire Budva's Protection and Safety chief Zdravko Sljukic said that the blaze devastated vast swaths of the Spas hill including its whole southern side and the area behind Mogren beach. "The damage is huge, plenty of pine forest has been burned. There were no damages on households or other structures," he denied some media reports. Budva Mayor Rajko Kuljaca told reporters that the municipality will seek to acquire a water bomber plane by the start of next year's tourist season. In the meantime, the Montenegrin town received assistance from Serbian MUP helicopters, engaged in the firefighting operation. MUP Protection and Rescue Sector head Predrag Maric told B92 that Serbian pilots will remain in Montenegro for a time on stand-by, in case new fires break out during the day. Maric said that although the firefighters worked in order to avoid causing panic among the large number of tourists in Budva, they were engaged all day and during the whole of last night, "which shows that the situation was not to be taken lightly at all".
