Miroslav Lajcak says that there are no similarities between the situations in Bosnia-Herzegovina and Kosovo. “Bosnia-Herzegovina is an internationally recognized sovereign state, whose territorial integrity is guaranteed by the Dayton Peace Accords,” and it “has nothing in common with Kosovo,” the international high representative to Bosnia-Herzegovina said in an interview with Russian daily Vremya Novosti. Lajcak : Bosnia, Kosovo unrelated “All efforts to tie it to Kosovo are fabricated, and can only be used by irresponsible politicians for their own narrow, personal interests,” Lajcak said, adding that “of course, the Kosovo question has had an effect on the entire region, but it has not destabilized Bosnia-Herzegovina.” He said that the international community would not allow any attempts to subvert the Dayton Accords, regardless of whether the attempts were coming from within the country or abroad. “There is no excuse for trying to use Kosovo as an excuse for personal problems or failures,” the high representative said, adding that “no entity has the right to leave the country’s framework, and its constitution can only be changed with the approval of all three constituent peoples.” “Bosnia-Herzegovina is made up of two entities – the Federation of Bosnia-Herzegovina and the Republic of Srpska. According to the Dayton Peace Accords, any attempts to bring the existence of these entities into question are unacceptable,” Lajcak said. He said that the country’s main goal remained the signing of the Stabilization and Association Agreement (SAA) with the EU, and making progress towards European integration. Lajcak said that the adoption of the police reform laws had fulfilled the final important condition for signing the SAA, and the key condition for closing the office of the high representative and bringing an end to its powers of intervention. “Bosnia-Herzegovina is at the doorstep of a new phase in its development,” the high representative predicted.
