Members of the assembly and journalist who are entering the building as subjected to "thorough controls."

Opposition activists pitched tents in front of the government and the assembly three days ago, demanding early elections.

The opposition announced they would "not allow" Thaci, who currently serves as deputy prime minister and foreign minister and is the PDK party leader, to be elected as president, and announced they would organize protests.

Early parliamentary elections will have to be called if the assembly fails to elect Kosovo's new president by March 6.
