Police union to organize protests over layoffs

1,475 MUP employees have recently been reassigned to new jobs - but the trade union says these jobs are "non-existent," and that the employees in question will eventually be sacked.

Speaking on Friday, Stefanovic said the ministry's reorganization will continue, and that there was "daily communication with representatives of all 26 police unions - but there are joint commissions only with two representative unions."

Stefanovic said that the protest will be allowed to go ahead on Sunday, and that the ministry "will consider everything they say be forthcoming toward those things we have no problem with - those things we cannot do, we cannot do."

The Independent Police Union also announced they would file a criminal complaint against Stefanovic for issuing "unlawful decisions", and also against those media outlets who published "untruths about the union's leader, Momcilo Vidojevic."
