New mayor of Gracanica elected

Citizen's Initiative Srpska candidate Vladeta Kostic has been elected mayor in early elections in the Serb-majority town of Gracanica in central Kosovo.

New mayor of Gracanica elected

Daka said at a press conference that candidate of the Progressive Democratic Party Nenad Rasic secured 31.5 of the vote, candidate of the Democratic League of Kosovo Saip Berisa 1.7 percent and candidate of the New Party of Kosovo Dragisa Vidic 1.8 percent in Sunday's mayoral election.

To sum up, 37.39 percent of the total number of eligible voters went to the polls on Sunday, 7,270 ballot papers were valid, and there were 294 conditional votes (refers to cases where a voter cannot be found on the electoral roll, but he or she can prove eligibility to vote).

The snap election for mayor of Gracanica was held because former mayor Branimir Stojanovic had been appointed to the post of deputy prime minister of Kosovo.
