"Serbia's role as OSCE chair important"

Kirby said that he "expects that Serbia will face numerous challenges while at the helm of the OSCE," but added that he believes that the general assessment at the end of its tenure will be that it has done a good job.

"The U.S. is ready to assist Serbia in its efforts to become a modern, orderly country," Kirby was quoted as saying.

Thanks to the fiscal consolidation measures that are being implemented by the Serbian government and a rise in foreign investments in 2015, the citizens will be able to be more optimistic about the future, Nikolic also noted.

"Investments into our economy no longer represent just money but, most of all, the trust that our partners have in Serbia," Nikolic said.

Nikolic and Kirby also discussed the interest of U.S. companies in investing in Serbia, the statement said.
