Opposition likely to go to March polls fragmented
Čanak's party will instead as early as on Wednesday begin discussions with Boris Tadić and Dušan Petrović. But even this bloc will not have the announced composition, since it is almost certain that it will not include Mlađan Dinkić's URS party, the daily writes.Jovanović on Tuesday interpreted Čanak's silence as his decision to enter into a partnership "on the other side."
"Čanak has chosen Tadić," Jpvanović said.
Soon after came the reaction from the LSV, whose Vice-President Bojan Kostreš said that the party was "not closing its door to the LDP, but will not respond to aggressive statements and offers, and cancellations of cooperation through the media."
A third opposition group will be led by the Democratic Party, which goes to the polls along with Nova Stranka ("New Party"), the Democratic Alliance of Croats in Vojvodina, and the Greens of Serbia.
Bosniak parties have also so far failed to reached agreement on a single list. Deputy Chairman of SDA Sandžak Šemsudin Kučević met with representatives of the Bosniak Democratic Alliance to discuss this. Afterwards, the focus will be on forming an election list with other minority parties.
Further confusion among opposition voters could be caused by former Minister of Economy Saša Radulović, who has announced his own ticket.
At the same time, the opposition's "right wing" has opted to go to the polls independently. After the DSS, the Dveri Movement and the Radicals (SRS) announced they would not enter pre-election coalitions.
