BUCHAREST Ivica Dacic says the China-Central and Eastern European Countries (CEEC) Summit will have" a positive effect on Serbia’s development." Speaking in Bucharest, Romania, on Tuesday, the prime minister also said he expected the gathering "to create opportunities for a number of regional projects." "CEEC summit will help Serbia’s development" "I put forward a proposal for the Chinese prime minister to visit Serbia next year and formally open the bridge on the Danube between Belgrade’s Zemun and Borca neighborhoods, and we nominated Belgrade as the host for the third, 2014 China-CEEC Summit," Dacic said. He added that "the decision on these proposals will be made by China," adding that several countries were nominated as the host of the next year’s Summit. The prime minister said that the participants of this year’s Summit will be reaching a decision about Belgrade’s proposal to set up a regional association for infrastructure later. Dacic said that the 2013 China-CEEC Summit was attended by all the prime ministers invited, excluding the prime minister of Latvia, which reflects the high level of interest in cooperation with China. He pointed out that the Summit has produced, among other things, an agreement between China, Hungary and Serbia to work together on a project to overhaul and modernize the railway route between Belgrade and Budapest. Dacic said he was "pleased about the results of the Summit in Bucharest, noting positively that today, all countries that had previously had different attitudes towards China, now want to foster closer cooperation with the country." He pointed out that Serbia has never changed its attitude towards China and that the two countries have signed a strategic partnership agreement. “In the talks with the prime ministers of other countries, one of the main questions was how you (Serbia) have managed to have so good and balanced relations with both China and Russia and the EU,” Dacic said.
