MT. GOLIJA President Tomislav Nikolic toured on Tuesday a section of the regional road between the village of Odvracenica, on Mt. Golija, and Raska, in western Serbia. Nikolic met with the locals and stated that Serbia will invest in roads, energy and rural development, in order to improve the quality of village life. President urges investment in rural development “You will see how village life could be good once you are provided with what you need and there is no one to steel from you,” Nikolic said in his address. “The ones who have stolen from you will be stopped, and there will be no new thieves as they will witness the fate of the ones have stolen so far,” the president said. He underlined that the priority of the Serbian government will be to ensure good living conditions in the villages, while the state will continue to build roads maybe not by taking loans as it was the case so far, by through concessions. “We have to build roads, schools, ambulances, post offices, and to ensure that children have something to do in the places where they live, rather than just be turned to big cities,” Nikolic said. He underlined that the ones who are leaving villages mostly migrate towards Belgrade, but added that it cannot be that everyone lives in the capital. “My father comes from a similar area, and if he had had a road, he would not have migrated to Kragujevac, and today I would not be seeing deserted houses in my father's village,” Nikolic said, stressing that villagers must be provided with good living conditions.
