BELGRADE Ministries of Finance and Health have come up with a proposal for health care sector trade unions, offering a two percent increase in salaries in October. Ministers Mladjan Dinkic and Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic addressed reporters after their meeting with union representatives in Belgrade on Thursday to assure that the sector's salaries would not be decreased. According to Djukic-Dejanovic, all those who work in heath care services and will not be covered by the formula will receive two percent higher salaries, while others will be paid either the same figure as before, or will receive up to four percent more. Dinkic said that all this will come as part of the review of the state budget in October and April, and also stressed this "did not mean that everyone will have two percent higher salaries". He revealed that his ministry had accepted a union proposal to pay New Year bonuses of RSD 4,000 to those with lowest income. The meeting today was attended by representatives of the Autonomous Union of Health and Social Care Workers, the Branch Union of Health and Social Care Workers "Independence", and the Union of Nurses and Medical Technicians. They said they were "for the most part" satisfied with the proposal that they heard from the ministers on Thursday. Autonomous Union leader Zoran Savic said this organization would have the final say on the offer, saying that he was "not satisfied with the two percent increase" - not noting at the same time that it was "important that the salaries would not be cut."
