BELGRADE The support to Serbia’s EU integration has dropped because there have been no real internal reforms recently, says Deputy PM Suzana Grubjesic. According to the latest poll, 49 percent of the citizens support the country’s EU accession. Govt. needs “new approach to EU integration process” “After the visa free regime was introduced, the citizens practically felt no improvement on the EU pathway that directly affected their everyday lives,” Grubjesic noted. According to her, the new government needs a new approach to the EU integration that would restore the country’s credibility and bring progress to the citizens. “We have to be aware that the EU will not solve our problems. We have to do it ourselves but not by talking about the EU, by speculating about the dates and adopting European laws, which has been done so far, but by implementing those laws and being persistent in the internal reforms,” the deputy PM stressed. “The Brussels is not our goal, the goal is to establish European standards in Serbia that will bring a better life to all citizens in all parts of our country,” she added. “A large number of citizens wants reforms and this government has a task to implement those changes in order to justify the trust placed in it,” Grubjesic pointed out.
