Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS) deputy leader Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic says the talks on the forming of the government with the Democrats are “very difficult”. “We have an official position to try with the Democratic Party (DS) and if that fails, we will talk with other parties, but the decision must be made by the party organs,” she told Beta news agency. Talks with Democrats difficult, SPS official says When asked what an obstacle to the forming of the new government with the Democrats was, Djukic-Dejanovic said that “those leading the talks” should be asked the question, adding that she did not take part in the negotiations. The SPS official added that the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) had offered the Socialists to discuss the forming of the future government but that she had no information “whether (SPS leader Ivica) Dacic was offered the prime minister’s position”. “The cooperation with the DS is very difficult,” she pointed out. Djukic-Dejanovic explained that a statement of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) that they did not want to take part in the forming of the government meant that “we do not have the parliamentary majority with the Democrats anymore”. The LDP stressed earlier that it was impossible to form the government with the SPS because it was not ready to make compromise regarding key state issues. SNS official Nebojsa Stefanovic said on Tuesday evening that the Progressives and the Socialists should start the talks on the forming of the new government on Wednesday.
