Both Jarinje and Brnjak administrative crossings between central Serbia and Kosovo are open but citizens are still using alternative crossings and roads. One of these roads, which Serbs used to avoid the official Jarinje administrative checkpoint has been blocked since Thursday and controlled by the Serbian gendarmerie. Most roads in northern Kosovo open for traffic The majority of citizens coming from the direction of Ribarice are using alternative roads in order to circumvent the Brnjak crossing located on the Ribarice-Zubin Potok road. The routine traffic control at this alternative road is carried out by KFOR soldiers, who usually check the cars only for weapons. Unlike Brnjak, Jarinje is used by all vehicles coming from Raska (central Serbia) to northern Kosovo and vice versa as of Thursday. Namely, the alternative road around the Jarinje administrative checkpoint is blocked by a pile of sand preventing the passage of vehicles. Members of the Serbian gendarmerie are deployed on a small hill on the central Serbia side, at about 200 meters from where the roadblock is located. The traffic control at Jarinje and Brnjak is being conducted by members of EULEX and their local colleagues. However, northern Kosovo can be reached by a few more alternative roads, including the Novi Pazar-Izvori-Banjska-Zvecan road and another bypass from the direction of Novi Pazar. KFOR does not control traffic on these roads and the control on the entrance to Kosovo is conducted only members of the Serbian police. EULEX continues to inform citizens through local media that Brnjak and Jarinje are open for traffic. Jarinje is open for passenger and non-commercial traffic, awaiting the establishment of proper infrastructure for commercial traffic. The Brnjak crossing is open for passenger traffic, while commercial and non-commercial goods are directed at the checkpoint in southern Kosovska Mitrovica.
