KFOR Commander Erhard Drews says KFOR will not allow the security situation in northern Kosovo to deteriorate if Serbian elections were held there on May 6. According to Pristina-based Albanian language daily Koha Ditore, Drew said on Tuesday that the international missions in Kosovo and the Kosovo government would be able to keep the situation under control if the elections were held in the north. KFOR “will not allow disturbances in north” He added that EULEX, UNMIK and OSCE would do everything in order to prevent the security situation from deteriorating. The KFOR commander expressed belief that the Pristina government would act responsibly. Kosovo top officials have announced that they would use force if necessary in order to prevent the elections from being held.
