Serbia's Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremic said Friday in Athens that EU leaders are not thinking about enlargement right now. He thanked Greece on its strong support to Serbia's European integration, while his Greek counterpart Stavros Dimas reiterated the support to the EU-mediated dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina. Commenting on the events in northern Kosovo, he said such attacks should not be encouraged, the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a release. I am sure the Serbian government is taking all necessary measures, Dimas said. Jeremic recalled the close ties between Serbia and Greece, adding the current crisis hitting the Balkans is not the first, nor will it be the last. “We are at a crossroads where difficult decisions need to be made which concern all of Europe and which could affect the way it will function in the coming decades,” Jeremic said, expressing regret over the fact EU leaders are not focused on enlargement right now. He said Serbia is doing everything to realize its goal of EU membership, noting Serbia’s European path is the key issue in its relations with Greece and serves as a solid base for their further advancement. Dimas said Greece would continue to support Serbia on its European path, and stressed the importance of the recently formed Greece-Serbia cooperation committee, which met for the first time on November 25. This will contribute significantly to furthering bilateral relations, as well as Serbia’s European integration, he said. Jeremic and Dimas in Athens on Friday (Tanjug)
