WikiLeaks "cools" U.S.-Serbia relations

The U.S. diplomatic cables published thus far by WikiLeaks have caused "a certain cooling" in the relations between Serbia and the United States. This is according to Steven Meyer, a professor at the National Defense University and a former CIA analyst. WikiLeaks "cools" U.S.-Serbia relations Meyer told Voice of America that this concerned claims found in some of the leaked cables that Serbian President Boris Tadic was not a sufficiently reliable partner, "although he's doing everything he can to satisfy both Washington and Brussels". Washington is suspicious of Belgrade's readiness to arrest Ratko Mladic, this political analyst noted. "Some believe that Tadic knows where Mladic is, but that the Serb security and intelligence services are protecting him, including the possible Russian cooperation in this matter," Meyer was quoted as saying. Still, Meyer is hopeful that the WikiLeaks affair will "in most cases" not have long-term consequences for America's foreign policy.
