Priština prepares to open Podgorica embassy

Kosovo Foreign Minister Vlora Citaku said that Pristina will immediately begin preparations for opening its embassy in Podgorica. “We have yet to select a candidate for the ambassador, but we want Kosovo to have a very honorable official in Montenegro,” she told daily Danas. Pristina prepares to open Podgorica embassy Citaku said that she hopes that Pristina will be establishing diplomatic relations with Serbia in the future as well. She said that establishing diplomatic relations between Podgorica and Pristina is an important step in strengthening regional cooperation and further proof that Kosovo independence has brought peace and stability to region. Political analyst Milan Nikolic told B92 that Serbia’s decision to recall its ambassador from Podgorica because of Montenegro establishing diplomatic relations with Kosovo is not an unusual move. “What Serbia did was normal and is a legitimate gesture in the given circumstances,” Nikolic said. He said that he does not think that the cooling of relations between Serbia and Montenegro will last long.
