The Vojvodina League of Social Democrats (LSV) stated that it will prepare a draft laws for the province’s property and finances if the government doesn’t soon. LSV Deputy President Bojan Kostres told daily Dnevnik that if the government does not prepared the law soon, LSV will offer its own draft “and put great pressure on the government and other institutions for adopting it.” “LSV to prepare laws if govt. won’t” “Without a solution for the question of financing and without property, Vojvodina is essentially paralyzed. Practically, we received more authorities, but the same budget, which will slow the realization of these new authorities,” Kostres said. He reminded that LSV leader Nenad Canak and Prime Minister Mirko Cvetkovic agreed when confirming the statute that the laws would be prepared quickly, and that without these acts, the constitutional definition of autonomy cannot be defined in its entire capacity. “I expect that the government will present a draft of these two laws at the beginning of next year,” Kostres said. Since the section regarding income was left out of the initial law for the transfer of authorities to Vojvodina, it will have to be defined with a separate law. “When confirming the law for the transfer of authorities, we successfully received more than was initially agreed upon, and more than the province presented as the constitutional minimum. We were able to build into the law, things that our coalition partners gave up on already, like the Vojvodina science and arts academy, headquarters in Brussels, a capital city, and public companies,” Kostres said.
