A total of 5,200 people are competing for 2,453 openings for judges in a competition announced by the High Judicial Council. Justice Ministry Secretary Slobodan Homen said that the Council has until December 1 to select the judges for the general and special courts in Serbia. Two candidates for every judicial position All judges working currently will be at their positions until December 31, Homen said. Deputy President of the Judges’ Society Omer Hadziomerovic told B92 that he has yet to receive information on how many candidates there are for the court positions, adding that he is surprised by the fact that Homen has made the information public already. Hadziomerovic said that officials of the High Judicial Council should have been the ones to release this information. As far as the selection of prosecutors is concerned, the competition for applying will be published in all daily newspapers on August 5. The deadline for applying will be 15 days after the competition is announced.
