The Cvetkovic cabinet decided to ask parliament to adopt a resolution on the continuity of Belgrade's Kosovo policy. Prime Minister Mirko Cvetkovic told reporters after a cabinet session in Belgrade today that a proposal for an extraordinary parliament meeting has been sent, with this draft resolution on the agenda. New govt. seeks "Kosovo policy continuity" The premier said it is important for the new government to maintain the same state policy regarding the issue of "not recognizing Kosovo's independence". Cvetkovic said that all parties that are included in his cabinet supported this move, and that he expects "some opposition parties" to vote in favor of the proposal once it reaches parliament. He also pointed out that this draft resolution "does not mention any link with the Stabilization and Association Agreement (SAA)". Following the adoption or rejection of this document, Cvetkovic said, the ratification of the SAA will be put up for a vote. The agenda will also include the ratification of the strategic energy deal with Russia, while "various financial contracts" will also be debated at the extraordinary parliament session, yet to be scheduled.
