Slobodan Petrovic says that the Belgrade will not cooperate with Serb officials in Kosovo institutions. “The government has its own people in the field, so-called coordinators, and does not wish to cooperate with others, even though it ought to support those who are in the institutions,” said the president of the Independent Liberal Party. “Belgrade won’t cooperate with Serb MPs in Kosovo” Slobodan Petrovic’s party is participating in the Kosovo government. He told daily Gradjanski List that his party wanted to cooperate with Belgrade in order to help Serbs in Kosovo. “We cannot allow anyone to manipulate us, and if they want to help, they are welcome, but if they wish to lecture us on patriotism, then they will have to find other victims. We have outgrown that,” he said. The Independent Liberal Party has two Serbs in ministerial positions – Labor and Return – as well as a deputy internal affairs minister. Responding to Kosovo Minister Slobodan Samardzic’s comments that the Serbs within the Kosovo institutions “represent no one,” Petrovic said that “it could be said that he does not represent anyone, because he is not from Kosovo.” “The biggest problem is that people who have nothing to do with Kosovo are deciding, people who do not live here and have never lived here. The policies of those who live here and have families here are a lot different from those who have no influence or interest,” Petrovic said. He said that a partition of Kosovo would not be good for the Kosovo Serbs, especially the two-thirds of them who live south of the Ibar river.
