Wolfram Maas says, for his country, Serbia’s EU integration and Kosovo are completely separate issues. Talking to reporters yesterday, the German ambassador to Serbia pointed out that Chancellor Angela Merkel had very clearly and unequivocally made the same point after the Council of the Europe meeting last week. German ambassador: Kosovo, EU integration unrelated "The invitation to the west Balkan countries to join the EU is a general invitation to all these countries, regardless of the situation in Kosovo," the ambassador underlined. Maas stressed that he believed in Serbia's potential, and that it could advance towards the EU more quickly than other countries in the region if it focused on developing that potential. Pointing out that Serbia had the experts, a favorable geographic position and other advantages, the German ambassador said that provided policies were focused on economic and social development, there was no doubt that Serbia's road towards the EU could be shorter than for other countries in the region, and that its progress was unrelated to the issue of Kosovo.
