Serbian Army reorganization complete

“Serbia now has a more rational and efficient army,” Serbian Army Chief of the General Staff Lieutenant General Zdravko Ponoš said at the ceremony in Niš Saturday.

He explained that the Fourth Ground Forces Brigade will be based in Vranje, Leskovac and Bujanovac, stressing that its main task will be “to control the security zone and secure the administrative boundary with Kosovo.”

Defense Minister Dragan Šutanovac confirmed at the ceremony held at the barracks of the Infantry Regiment Knjaz Miloš Veliki in Vranje that the organizational changes in the Serbian Army that began 13 months ago were now completed.

He added that these changes were just a part of the reform process set to continue in the future, adding that it was necessary to adopt several laws related to the entire defense system.

“The reforms ahead should expand technical and material capacities of our army, and improve its status,” Šutanovac said.
