Republic of Srpska (RS) President Milan Jelic died late Sunday of a heart attack. Beta reported that a high Party of Independent Social-Democrats (SNSD) official confirmed this news for the agency. Republic of Srpska president dies As the candidate of that party, Jelic won the presidency in the RS elections on Oct. 1, 2006. Jelic was born on March 26, 1956 in the village of Koprivna near Modrica. He became RS president in the elections of Oct. 1, 2006, when as a candidate of the SNSD he defeated the then RS president and leader of the Social Democratic Party Dragan Cavic.
