Former FA president indicted

The Higher Public Prosecution in Belgrade has indicted former President of the Football Association of Serbia (FSS) Zvezdan Terzić and three of his colleagues.

The Higher Public Prosecution in Belgrade has indicted former President of the Football Association of Serbia (FSS) Zvezdan Terzic and three of his colleagues. The four are suspected of illegally taking money from transfers of players to foreign clubs, said Higher Court Spokeswoman Dusica Ristic. Former FA president indicted Along with Terzic, who was also the director of OFK Belgrade football club, the indictment includes club officials Milovan Ikodinovic and Vladimir Bulatovic as well as football manager Dusan Podunavac, she stressed. The court’s spokeswoman pointed out that the indictment was raised on July 7, that the suspects were accused of abuse of office and they could receive up to 12 years in prison if found guilty. The former FSS president and his associates are accused of incurring financial damages to four player: Vanja Grubac during his transfer to Germany's Hamburger, Branislav Ivanovic when he joined Russia's Lokomotiv, Stevan Stosic who went to Malaga in Spain, and Srdjan Stanic who transfered to Spartak Moscow. Terzic’s defense counsel Vladan Batic has announced that his client would attend the trial in order to prove his innocence and clear his name, which Batic said was "smeared by people from the former government, with bad intentions”. Batic stated that Terzic was “in a dilemma" what the proceedings against him were "actually about", and asserted that it was "the former regime (the government prior to 2008) which for several reasons wanted to shame him”. The lawyer added that his client had "health problems and wanted to be with his family during the necessary tests and treatment". Batic also said he was hoping that the court would not remand Terzic into custody pending his trial, and that his client had money and real estate worth EUR 200,000 ready in bail money.
