Several Zemun Clan members serving time in Belgrade's District Prison have been transferred to a jail in Pozarevac, in eastern Serbia. This is according to a report today in daily Blic, which names Aleksandar Simovic, Zeljko Tojaga and Branislav Bezarevic, all found guilty of participating in the 2003 murder of Zoran Djindjic. Ulemek separated from Zemun gangsters Nenad Ilic, a.k.a. Glavonja, convicted in the Ibarska murders case, was also taken to Pozarevac's Zabela jail, the report says. The transfer, the newspaper writes, was conducted with maximum security measures in place and was kept secret. This came after guards recently found a plastic gun in the cell of Milorad Ulemek a.k.a. Legija, sentenced to 40 years in jail for the Djindjic murder. This raised suspicion that Serbia's best known convict was planning escape, writes Blic.
