The Kosovo Police Service (KPS) has seized 13.5kg of heroin and arrested six people, according to Pristina media. Yesterday afternoon, the police found a large amount of “narcotic substances” that was confirmed to be pure heroin during a routine check of a car on the Mitrovica – Srbica road, near the village of Brodonic, reported KosovaLive. Their identities are not yet known. 11.11kg of heroin seized in Gradina The Customs Department announced today that the 11.11kg of heroin seized from two Bulgarian nationals at the Gradina border crossing had a value of some EUR 280,000. 4.07kg of brown powder used for mixing with heroin was found on one passenger, and 7.04kg on the other, according to a statement which specifies that the drugs were concealed in hidden compartments in the passengers’ briefcases. The drugs were discovered on a passenger traveling on a bus with Bulgarian number plates that was operating the Varna-Bochun route. The drugs were packed into large plastic bags, and wrapped in tape, which is typical for smuggling in luggage, the statement adds. The Customs Department says that the passengers and seized drugs have been submitted to the authorities for further procedure. The statement reiterates that at the same border crossing one month ago, 163.4kg of heroin was confiscated, one of the region’s biggest hauls in the last ten years.
