BELGRADE Minister of Economy Sasa Radulovic says the laws on labor need to change and be adjusted to European laws, regardless of the dissatisfaction of trade unions. During a break at the public debate on the draft laws on privatization and bankruptcy on Thursday, Radulovic told reporters that he does not see any reason why someone would leave the working group and added that all relevant sides should take part in the talks. Labor law must be changed "regardless of trade unions" The two representative trade unions in Serbia, the Association of Independent Trade Unions of Serbia and the Trade Union Confederation Nezavisnost, decided to abandon the talks on the amendments to the labor Law because they believe the social dialogue in the country is no longer functioning and because four draft laws appeared instead of only one. Radulovic said that the amendments to the laws do not envisage radical solutions and that the authorities aimed to achieve the standards of EU laws and efficient practice in the world. He denied the trade unions' claims that he is ignoring them, and added that he understands that it is difficult for them to accept the amendments. “It seems to me that employees understand this much better than trade union leaders,” he stated. Radulovic noted that several draft laws are currently being discussed and that a choice needs to be made, but it is still uncertain which of the documents would be adopted in the end. He said that it is not true that the new law would entail dismissals for a large number of employees or salary cuts by four to eight percent. The public debate at the PKS (Tanjug) Tanjug
