Chinese company to build section of Corridor 11

The Serbian government and Chinese company Shandong Hi-Speed Group have signed an agreement on construction of a 50-kilometer-long section of the highway.

BELGRADE The Serbian government and Chinese company Shandong Hi-Speed Group have signed an agreement on construction of a 50-kilometer-long section of the highway. The highway will stretch through western Serbia and the construction of the section that will be built by Chinese will amount to USD 334mn. Chinese company to build section of Corridor 11 The contract, which was signed by Construction and Urban Planning Minister Velimir Ilic, public company Corridors of Serbia public company Director Dmitar Djurovic and Shandong Hi-Speed Group Deputy Director Zhu Wei on Friday, involves Ljig-Lajkovac-Ub-Obrenovac section totaling 50 kilometers and 230 meters with construction deadline of 37 months. After the signing ceremony, Ilic said in the Serbian government that a tender would be called soon for issuing concessions for construction of Belgrade-Obrenovac section and Ljig-Preljina section, adding that the estimated cost of construction stood at EUR 600mn. “The draft concession for construction of Belgrade-Obrenovac section will be ready in a month,” the minister said. Zhu said that he hoped that cooperation with Serbia would continue, adding that Shandong Hi-Speed Group was particularly interested in the construction of Belgrade-Obrenovac section on the highway from Belgrade to the Montenegrin border, while Montenegro was due to construct the section from the border to the Port of Bar. “The preparatory works will last three months,” Zhu said, adding that Friday's agreement was very important for future cooperation, and stressing that Shandong Hi-Speed Group would stick strictly to Serbia's regulations when performing the construction works. Djurovic said that the expropriation of the sections would be competed in three to six months so that the works could be launched. The construction works on 24-kilometer-long Lajkovac-Ljig section will include 16 bridges and one 990-meter-long tunnel, involving at least 40 percent of companies from Serbia.
