BELGRADE Deputy PM Aleksandar Vucic and Economy and Finance Minister Mladjan Dinkic say the government's first big results would become apparent very shortly. "A big scandal will be cleared up by the end of August," Vucic told the state broadcaster RTS. Case of "plundered bank" to be tackled, promise ministers He said that this was a case of "plundering a big bank." Belgrade media are speculating that he was referring to the case of Agrobanka, which has gone bankrupt under highly suspicious circumstances. The bank's minority shareholders, mostly foreign investment funds, have announced their intention to take Serbia to court. Vucic said that illegalities in state-owned companies would also be investigated and that nobody has the right to "plunder people's money." Dinkic, for his part, said that a "program of anti-crisis measures" would be adopted already in August and that many taxes burdening businesses would be abolished in September. He said that the new government would secure the money for subsidized credits for bolstering companies' liquidity, grants for investment, as well as changing the way of collecting VAT to benefit businesses. Vucic said that all government decisions must be made unanimously and that compromises "must not be made to the detriment of the people's best interests." "There can be no outvoting of ones in the government by others and one or two such instances would mean that there was no government," Vucic said.
