Budget deficit lower than planned
Serbia has had a budget deficit of RSD 93.8bn (EUR 964.8mn) at the end of 2009, the Ministry of Finance has announced.

Serbia has had a budget deficit of RSD 93.8bn (EUR 964.8mn) at the end of 2009, the Ministry of Finance has announced. Revenues amounted to RSD 619.4bn, and expenditure to RSD 713.2bn, the statement said. Budget deficit lower than planned The 2009 budget rebalance envisaged a budget deficit of RSD 104.9bn, expenditures of RSD 719.8bn and revenues amounting to RSD 614.9bn. During 2009, the highest revenue came from VAT – RSD 296.9bn, followed by collection of excise duty worth 119.8bn, and 71.3bn in income taxes. The state spent the most from the budget – RSD 261.9bn – through transfers to the organizations for compulsory social insurance, while RSD 177.7bn was spent on salaries.
