The date of the arrival of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) mission to Belgrade will be announced by Serbian government representatives. This, according to a statement from the IMF Office in Belgrade for Tanjug this Thursday, could take place once Serbian authorities reach a decision on the talks and once they state what kind of arrangement they want. IMF: Mission arrival depends on Belgrade Serbian representatives publicly stated that they need a regular stand-by arrangement with the IMF, taking into account the international and domestic economic situation, so that this might be the subject of the new talks, the IMF says. Whether a new arrangement with this international financial organization, should it be signed, will be an advisory or a binding stand-by arrangement for the government, mainly depends on this country's authorities, Tanjug was told. The type of agreement will depend on whether Serbian authorities will want to withdraw credit lines from the fund or not, on the availability of funds from other sources and Serbia's needs for financial resources, the IMF Office in Belgrade stated. Prime Minister Mirko Cvetkovic said earlier that his cabinet is considering the possibility of requiring an additional USD 2bn loan from the IMF to overcome the consequences of the current financial crisis in the country, after the already agreed arrangement that totals some USD 520mn.
