First Deputy PM Ivica Dacic said on Saturday that he expects trade between Russia and Serbia to reach USD 4bn by the end of this year. Dacic, who is also interior minister in the Cvetkovic cabinet, added after his working breakfast with Russian presidential envoy Georgy Sergeyevich Poltavchenko that the Serbo-Russian dialogue will contribute to the strengthening of economic ties, adding that he is satisfied with yesterday's agreement over a strategic energy deal. "Boosting of Russia economic ties" Poltavchenko, who heads a visiting Russian delegation, said that the business dialogue was successful, with an agreement reached on finalizing the necessary documents for the oil and gas contracts to be signed by December 20. The signing of these documents will be a clear signal for Russian companies that they can and should do business in Serbia, Poltavchenko specified. Dacic also reminded that last month's meetings in Moscow of the inter-state mixed committees decided to abolish Russian visas for Serbian citizens, at the same time discussing a liberalization and expansion of the free trade zone goods list. "We have also reached agreement to discuss putting what matters to Serbia on that list, such as furniture, and cars," revealed Dacic. Earlier, reports said that Poltavchenko announced talks in Moscow for next week, set to focus on the construction of the Belgrade subway. Belgrade Mayor Dragan Djilas will travel to Russia to discuss the financing of the project with Russian partners, the Russian presidential envoy specified.
