At the start of the year, the annual level of base inflation pertaining to prices formed freely on the market was projected at between 3-6 percent. The biggest price hikes in June were recorded in industrial non-food products at 2.2 percent, the biggest influence on which was had by the rise in fuel prices, a statement says. The government’s economic plan envisaged a rise in inflation of 6.5 percent for the whole of 2008, while certain political commentators believe that inflation will come to at least 12 percent, on condition that there are no further sharp price increases on international crude markets.

Inflation in Serbia in June was one percent, while the price of retail goods and services rose 6.1 percent in the first half of 2008, it was announced yesterday.According to the Statistical Office, the price of goods in June was 1.2 percent up on May, while the cost of services rose 0.7 percent.
The biggest price hikes in June were recorded in industrial non-food products at 2.2 percent, the biggest influence on which was had by the rise in fuel prices, a statement says.
