EAR guarantees Serbia EU funds

In the next five years, Serbia will receive another EUR 1bn from the new European Union budget. The amount is guaranteed even if relations between Belgrade and Brussels deteriorate over the issue of Kosovo’s status, head of the European Agency for Reconstruction Operational Center in Belgrade Daniel Giuglaris said. EAR guarantees Serbia EU funds “Between 2000 and 2007, Serbia received EUR 1.287bn from the EU through the CARDS program,” he said in an interview published on Saturday by Belgrade daily Politika. “From May 2006 to June 2007, while negotations on the Stabilization and Association Agreement between Serbia and the EU were suspended, EU support continued and all projects were implemented without hindrance,” he said. Giuglaris commended partners in Serbia for their readiness for their cooperation, understanding, sense of responsibility and open exchange of views.
