Alimpić named new Belgrade mayor

Belgrade City Assembly members elected Zoran Alimpic in a secret ballot as the new mayor of Belgrade. Of the city assembly officials present, 51 of 57 voted in favor of Alimpic. Officials from the Serb Radical Party (SRS) left the meeting before the ballot. Alimpic named new Belgrade mayor Alimpic addressed the assembly before voting took place, stating that he was nominated by the Democratic Party (DS), Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS), and G17 Plus in order to continue the programs started by late mayor Nenad Bogdanovic. “Bogdanovic was doing his job successfully and with dedication and all assembly members from the ruling coalition feel an obligation to continue the programs which the city started under his administration,” Alimpic said. Bogdanovic passed away on September 27.
