Serb man assaulted near Kosovo town

Three ethnic Albanians on Sunday evening physically assaulted a Serb man from the town of Gnjilane and stole his car.

Serbia's public broadcaster RTS said the victim was Marko Stanojević.

The incident happened in the village of Stanišor. Stanojević was with his girlfriend when he was attacked.

A reporter with a local media outlet, TV Šilovo, said that the case was being investigated by the Kosovo police (KPS).

According to reports, the victim sustained serious injuries. He was first treated at the hospital in Gjilane, but after his condition took a turn for the worse, he was transferred to the Serb enclave of Gračanica.

The victim's father, Stanoje Stanković, said that the attackers carried firearms and spoke Albanian, Radio KiM has reported.

EULEX: No secret indictments against Kosovo Serbs

There are no secret indictments against Serbs in the Kosovo courts, because there is no legal basis for something like this, said EULEX head Bernd Borchardt.
